Through an expansive practice of drawing, painting, performance and installation, Paul explores the idea of an internal landscape with occasional references to historical paintings sourced from artists’ postcards.

Please join us for the exhibition launch event, kick starting a three week takeover of the Library of Birmingham, culminating in a day of Gothic related talks on May 2, 2015 from across BCU’s Art, Design, Media and English faculties. The event promises to be a fascinating and contemporary look at all things macabre and is a great opportunity to meet some of the artists and speakers.

The New Art WM Annuale is a specially curated exhibition of new work for sale by artists connected with the region and will take place for the first time at Article Gallery, Birmingham School of Art, Margaret Street between 20 March to 15 April 2015.
The Annuale is a new platform for the exhibition of work by early career and established artists working in the region and takes place for the first time at Article Gallery, Birmingham School of Art, Margaret Street between 20 March to 15 April 2015. All work will be for sale in the exhibition and it is set to become a regular fixture in the West Midlands’ contemporary art calendar. The inaugural exhibition is co-curated by Mona Casey (Director of Article Gallery) and Rachel Bradley (Head of Art Market Project).

Monster Club is a visual art exhibition of Monster themed work
The monster makers come together from Birmingham and Loughborough, London and Kolkata. They include regional, national and international artists, current students and recent graduates. The exhibition also includes the work of a diverse group of young artists aged 8 -16 from a local art club run by Friction Arts.
MONSTER CLUB is funded by A Grant for the Arts, Arts Council England and supported by Friction Arts and The Midlands Industrial Association.

Postcards of museum paintings which form part of the bric-a-brac of Paul Newman’s studio paraphernalia become the basis of some of his work. By exploring the relationship between the artist and their studio space, Paul creates a layering and overlapping of imagery and narratives.
